Architecture friends and those interested in history are in the right place in Burgos: from the narrow old town streets, to the spacious Plaza Mayor, the impressive cathedral, various venerable monasteries and the striking castle ruins above the city, there is an incredible amount to discover here.

The Cathedral of Burgos with its many ornaments is of course a particularly impressive building that you definitely have to see. But a visit from the inside is also worthwhile, because, among other things, you can marvel at the final resting place of the Castilian knight and Spanish national hero El Cid and his wife Doña Jimena. The bones were moved here from the Monastery of San Pedro de Cardeña in 1835 to create a more dignified tomb for the hero. His legendary sword "Tizona" can also be seen here.
