Leafy park along Bahnhof Str in a prime location of downtown Schwerte, originally consecrated as a cemetery in 1821 by famous pastor, scientist and city magistrate Friedrich Bährens whose 1833 grave is preserved with several others toward the western end of the park: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_B%C3%A4hrens

Attempts have been made to erect a monument to the former streams towards the pedestrian zone. A detailed information board describes how former stream valleys had to give way to the growing city and industrialization. Some of the streams were piped or even completely part of the canal network. In some places, the former courses of the streams can no longer even be determined. This is to be remembered with an artificial stream in the city park.
