At the entrance we find a sign with the following inscription (13.03.2019):
"The Kluterthöhlensystem is a unique natural phenomenon, which is of outstanding scientific and natural historical reasons and because of their rarity, nature and beauty of outstanding importance. The Kluterthöhlensystem is henceforth protected as a National Natural Monument. (...)"
The cave was created by leaching a layer of reef lime sloping down to the north and its passages extend over 5.8 kilometers into the rock. It is not a stalactite cave (so you will not expect stalactites or stalagmites). In summer and in winter, the cave is constantly 10 ° C. The climate is particularly suitable for people with respiratory problems (keyword: asthmatics) and so the Kluterthöle is also used therapeutically as a spa resort.
There are different types of guided tours that can be read on the internet.
