The Ansbach government councilor Wilhelm Reynitzsch received permission in 1803 to open burial mounds from the Bronze Age and had a memorial erected on the largest burial mound in 1804. The inscriptions carved in there are:

"To a brave Wiegand / from our Zennenland / this cenotaph / of stones without numbers / was raised in the holy grove / to be commemorated."

The stone was obtained from a quarry in the area. At the same time, a findable corpse cremation place and a court place no longer existed were created.

On a small forest clearing is the "heath hill" with the legendary rune stone. Through the silence of the forest one sees oneself at the first sight in the time of the Germans. One thinks to stand in front of a rider's grave, where horse and man are buried together. Read the scripture inscribed on the side: "To a valiant Wigand from our Zennenland this memorial of stones without number was raised in the sacred grove to be a commemorative". Or the above mysterious runes, they were then translated by the ancient scientist Huscher from Ansbach following: "This is the stone of Augiona Varlag, Wigands Teutschmann from Zannua - The burial mound has built Alfruner u.s.d."

Replica of a Germanic grave mound. Built by Wilhem Reynitzsch in 1804.

If you follow the "Grünkreuz-Weg" for about 300 meters to the left, a narrow footpath to the right leads to the "Heidenhügel". On a small forest clearing (also on the right) you will find the legendary Rune Stone. Through the silence of the forest one sees oneself at the first sight in the time of the Germans. One thinks to stand in front of a rider's grave, where horse and man are buried together. Read the scripture inscribed on the side: "To a valiant Wigand from our country of descent, this memorial was raised by stones without number in the sacred grove to be a commemoration to him". Or the above mysterious runes, they were then translated by the ancient scientist Huscher from Ansbach following: "This is the stone of Augiona Varlag, Wigands Teutschmann from Zannua - The burial mound has built Alfruner u.s.d."

At this mysterious place, one should really ignore the fact that this burial place and the "Siebenrichtersteine" did not originate from a Germanic era, but were modeled in 1804 by the then Prussian Regierungsrat Wilhelm Reynitzsch. He set it up at a time when all of Germany was seizing a new epoch, the "romance".

Monument commemorating burial mounds from the Bronze Age (2200 to 800 BC) The Ansbach government councilor Wilhelm Reynitzsch had this monument erected in 1804 on the largest burial mound.

On the stone of the tumulus, carved on the side, is said to be (barely legible):
"To a brave Wiegand - from our Zennen country -
this memorial of stones was exalted without number in the sacred grove to commemorate him."

The stones were laid out like a Germanic cavalry grave. However, this tomb does not date from the time of the Germans. These were copied by the then Prussian government councilor Wilhelm Reynitzsch in 1804. Still a very atmospheric place.

From now on we followed the "red dot" marking and after a short time we reached the "Heiden Hügel".
At the sight of the mystical place one felt transported to the prehistoric Bronze Age.
However, like the "Seven Judge Stones" a few hundred meters away, it is a replica.
In 1803, the Ansbach government councilor Wilhelm Reynitzsch received permission to open and examine burial mounds from the Bronze Age. In 1804 he erected a monument on the site of the burial mounds, a replica of a prehistoric megalithic tomb. On the memorial stone from 1804 there is an inscription that is very difficult to decipher.
It should read: "A brave Wiegand from our Zennenland was given this memorial of stones without number in the sacred grove to commemorate him".
