Ford in the Brölbach valley

At this point, an old bridge spanned the Brölbach until 1987. The building had to be demolished due to dilapidation. It was replaced by a ford made of natural stone, which also withstands heavy forestry traffic.

The embroidery of the brook sole consists of gray wacke, typical of the area, which is secured against undercutting by crossbars on both sides of the embroidery. The bank areas were trained on both sides with a flatter slope, especially for long forestry commercial vehicles. Stepping stones make it possible to cross the Brölbach at medium water levels.

The coarsely embroidered sole area ensures continuity for small organisms, which forms the food for the fish population.

At the request of the local community of Katzwinkel (Sieg), a new pedestrian walkway was built in 2003, which was built as a prototype by the company Ferdi Hombach, Wisserhof (almost exclusively logs). The company even applied for utility model protection (weakened patent).
