    Hikers are welcome guests at the Krausberghütte, located on the mountain of the same name above Dernau, just a stone's throw from the Krausberg Tower (if interested, see komoot.com/de-de/highlight/72123). It is run by the local chapter of the Eifel Association – a volunteer organization. Those planning a stop here should check the opening hours beforehand.

          The first mountain hut in Dernau was built and inaugurated in 1928 by the Eifel Association OG Dernau. In 1967, the hut was expanded to include a regulars' table, a kitchen, restrooms, and storage rooms.

          In the winter of 1974/1975, the hut's second extension, the Rondell, was built.
