Archbishop's Palace and Palazzo del Seminario is the seat of both the archbishopric and the seminary, which was established in 1610 by Decio Caracciolo using a wing of the Archbishop's Palace next to the cathedral. In 1651, the so-called San Sabino column was placed in the courtyard thus formed. The current Baroque appearance is due to the intervention of Muzio Gaeta junior, who entrusted the "embarrassment" of the structure to D. A. Vaccaro, then engaged also with similar works in the cathedral of San Sabino (1738-45). Today the internal staircase, the three-storey façade enriched by the side avant-corps and the balustraded terrace, as well as the busts that decorate the entire structure are still visible. On the side of via Dottula there is another eighteenth-century door with rotated plinth columns, a solution also used at Palazzo Effrem and, in another context, also in the baroque altars of S. Domenico. The Diocesan Museum (Bari) is housed in the Seminary.
