This trail is relatively narrow, cutting through dense vegetation and zigzags with fantastic views across the San Leandro Valley. There are several rocky outcroppings and green hillsides where you can catch a glimpse of cows grazing on the ridge's plentiful grasslands.

Sycamore trail leads along a ridge on the western edge of the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, which offers 5,342 acres of wilderness and an expanded trail system. It connects with Devil's Hole Trail in the south and Rocky Ridge Trail in the north.
