The first mention of the Rimburg mill goes back to 1543. It has always belonged to Rimburg Castle and was used as a forced mill at that time.
On the Dutch side there was an oil mill that also belonged to Rimburg Castle. This was built in the second half of the 16th century. In 1880 it underwent a thorough renovation and a switch to turbine drive.
But both mills are now at a standstill.

The Rimburg mills are former water mills on the German and Dutch side of the Wurm with undershot water wheels in the area of the city of Übach-Palenberg and Rimburg.
The Rimburg mills are located on the right and left side of the Wurm, on Bruchhausener Strasse, near Rimburg Castle in the town of Übach-Palenberg. The Wurm is the border river between Germany and the Netherlands.
The first known documentary mention of the Rimburg mill goes back to 1543. The mill stands directly in front of the farm yard of the impressive Rimburg Castle. The Rimburg mill had two water wheels. The mill building from the early 19th century is now used for residential purposes.
On the opposite, Dutch side of the worm was an oil mill, which also belonged to Rimburg Castle. It was built in the second half of the 16th century. In 1880 it underwent a thorough renovation and a switch to turbine drive. It too has long been silent and is now a residential building.

The mill complex was built sometime after 1791. It belonged to Rimburg Castle and was part of a large mill complex with two water wheels (undershot) that was located on both banks of the Worm. The main building, house and farm were on the right bank and another mill building on the left bank. There were all kinds of distribution sluices to use the water. Initially the mill on the left bank was an oil mill.
