The Nordhäuser Cathedral (also called the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Nordhausen) is located in the district town of Nordhausen in the Nordhausen district in the north of the state of Thuringia. Along with Erfurt Cathedral, it is the only church in the Erfurt diocese that officially bears the name cathedral. Nordhausen Cathedral was never the cathedral of a bishop's see, but rather a collegiate church until secularization. He received the title of the Holy Cross from the cross relic kept there, a splinter of the cross of Jesus Christ. The cathedral has been the only Roman Catholic church in the city of Nordhausen since the Reformation. It is the parish church of the Dom zum Heiligen Kreuz Nordhausen parish in the Nordhausen deanery of the Erfurt diocese.
