        Arcen is on the right bank of the Meuse. It has a lantern-lined waterfront boulevard in the summer and a small harbor accessed by pleasure boats across the river.

        The town center is limited to a few streets around the former town hall, a brick building with guarded by two stone lions portal on a central square. The infrastructure (small hotels, pensions, cafes, restaurants, retail outlets) is geared towards lively tourism. A series of events, markets and festivals each year invigorate the little town during the summer season, such as the Asparagus Wheel Four Day Tour and the Elf Fantasy Fair.

        Tourist attractions include the castle gardens of Arcen Castle, the ruins of a toll tower (part of the city wall) from the 15th century, the church, the thermal bath, the brewery "Hertog Jan" and the Wijmarsche watermill with the liqueur distillery "De IJsvogel".

          Arcen is a small Dutch fortress town located about 10 km north of Venlo on the banks of the Meuse.
          There is a nice central square with some shops and restaurants. Particularly noteworthy is the castle from the 17th century with the attached castle garden.
          At the southern end of the town stands a historic watermill that can be visited. It also houses the distillery "De IJsvogel", which produces gin, herbal bitters and liqueurs. A homonymous restaurant is also available.
          On the Maas is the so-called toll tower from the 15th century, which was part of a larger fortification.
