Watermill with metal undershot wheel on the Demer, 50 meters north of the church of Zichem, built in 1758. On March 2, 1994, the mill was protected as a monument and together with its surroundings as a village view. The building is now home to a home and doctor's practice, but the milling area is still preserved and separated with a glass wall. Unfortunately, the waterwheel has now been cut off from the Demer, so that turning has become impossible.

The mill became especially famous as a setting for the film adaptations of De Witte, the famous book by Ernest Claes.

If you follow the Heritage Walk in Zichem you will pass this mill.

Info about the Heritage Walk (3.3 km)
The walk starts at the station and takes you along the old railway bed to the Maiden's Tower. Via the former Geuzenkerkhof, the market square, the Sint Eustachiuskerk and the Elzenklooster you walk along the banks of the Demer to the watermill and back to the station. To complete this loop of 3.3 km, a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Demer was installed behind the De Hemmekes hall.

Opposite the Sint-Eustachius church (also known as the "church of Pastor Munte") and near the watermill of Zichem there is parking.
