Seal place
The once swampy and inhospitable area at the fork in the road to the campsite and beach has been transformed. The municipality of Wangerland supplied the material for the drainage, and Wangerland companies helped with free delivery of filling material and potting soil. The working group did their own work to remove a dogwood tree, drain the large area, create paths and build a mound of earth in order to place a realistically painted seal figure on it, which now welcomes everyone who comes to Schillig. Benches that have been set up are popular with hikers and cyclists as a rest stop. A replica of the historic Schillig signal mast, which used to stand on top of the dike to transmit signals to shipping to and from Wilhelmshaven and thus reminds us of Schillig's historical importance, was built. Three maple trees were planted to provide surrounding greenery.
