Lone Star Geyser is a geographical oddity in Yellowstone National Park as it is located in a spot where no other geysers exist. The trail to the geyser is an old forest road that is open to hikers and bikers. Eruptions occur every three hours and last for around 30 minutes, reaching heights of 40 feet (12 m).

Lone Star Geyser got its name for its isolated location, since it it the only geyser in a pretty large area. Expect the geyser to errupt every two to three hours, so try to get their at the right time. The erruptions go up to 30 to 50 feet and some say it might be the nicest geyser in the park.

You get there by parking at the Lone Star Trailhead. It is a quite level 5.4 mile out-and-back hike which is mostly paved. If you don't like hiking on pavement, you can also take the slightly longer Howard Eaton Trail 1.7 miles west of Lone Star Trailhead. This trail is also part of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail.

Lone Star Geyser is a notable geyser in Yellowstone National Park, distinct from the heavily visited Upper Geyser Basin because it is only accessible by hiking trail.
It is a cone geyser whose outlet consists of a geyserite cone about 3.6 to 5 meters (12 to 16 feet) high.
It erupts approximately every three hours. Eruptions are relatively regular but not officially predicted, requiring some waiting.
A full eruption is very long, lasting about 30 minutes. The water column reaches a height of about 11 to 14 meters (35 to 45 feet).
Visitors can determine the expected next eruption time from a logbook maintained on-site.
