    The hexagonal steel tower was built in 1990 on the central pier of Warnemünde. Due to a redesign of the harbor entrance, the beacon was no longer needed from 1997, dismantled and stored by the Water and Shipping Authority Stralsund. Thanks to an initiative of the Association for the Promotion, Maintenance and Preservation of Optical Traditions in Rathenow, the tower came into the city in 2008, from whose optical plants more than one hundred beacons have been fitted with lens systems worldwide.
