The rocky scenery of the Croda da Lago with its walls, towers and spikes make this tour an absolute highlight. Start is at Passo Giau (road pass), then through the Val Formin up to the saddle of Forcella Rossa del Formin. From here you have a magnificent view of Monte Pelmo, the Civetta, the Antelao and other mountains. After descending over a scree slope or the promising Forcella Ambrizzola you reach the Lago Federa. It is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Dolomites with the cozy Rif hut. Croda da Lago. It is worthwhile to stop in the hut or to linger on the lake. The way back leads along the lake and later steeply down Val Formin on the same route back to the road.

In a magical place, undeniably a natural paradise, in the face of the mountain colossi of Croda da Lago, the Croda Rossa, the Pomagagnon, the Cristallo, the Sorapiss and the Becco di Mezzodì, lies the refuge Croda da Lago. Far away from any kind of noise, you can easily reach them on foot, by mountain bike and in winter with alpine skis or snow shoes. However, it is better to circle the Croda da Lago ascent through a rocky sea (see Tour Xray2307 - 2016-09-24 Federa Lake with a round trip to Croda da Lago) and then finally to enter the hut before arriving at the short way back thinks.
