    Vouvant is labelled in Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (since 1988), as a Petite cité de caractère, and the village has obtained two flowers out of five in the Concours des villes et villages fleuris.

    It is the only fortified village of Vendée, is rich in cultural and architectural heritage and has a couple of great cafes and pubs to keep you refreshed. There are also some stunning viewpoints down by the river and by the old fort.
