Built in 1701 as a post mill. Lease and operation since 1998 by the Friends of Worpswedes e.V .. It is one of Worpswede's landmarks.

After the report of the office Osterholz from the year 1836 the windmill Worpswede was built in 1701 by Claus Segelken. For the operation of the mill he had to pay a Canon of 12 Reichstalern. As early as 1723, however, he sold the mill to 4 landlords because of the economic difficulties that had befallen them, and in 1737 they took the office to Meierrecht. From now on, it was meierrechtlich the Krongut Worpswede, the landgrave Elenora of Eschwege attached. In 1838, the building, probably a post-windmill, is so outdated that it is now bigger and more economical than Erdholländer. This mill was repeatedly overhauled several times, such as 1936, 1959 and most recently 1995. Until 1956, the mill had a codend that was removed to work now with a wind rose modern. The many refurbishments - often carried by donations - attract attention in the mill history. The economic situation with a relatively small arable land in the surrounding area must not have yielded golden fruits for every miller.

Today, with a white painted hull and white / red wing, it is a landmark of the artist's village of Worpswede.
