The castle skirt with large wall fence and park, leaves its mark on the small village center. The castle originally had a defensive function against attacks from the county of Flanders in the Middle Ages. The castle was rebuilt in neo-gothic style after a fire in the early 20th century.

Finally, presumably of medieval origin, about which the literature gives scarce historical data. Uninhabitable in the late 17th century after the destruction by Louis XIV's troops, the early 18th century was restored and sold in 1732 by the Wyels family to J.B. Regaus, whose heirs sell it to J.F. Walravens. A map of circa 1751 shows a tree-lined domain with French gardens, fountains, ponds and the floor plan of a complex building. In the middle of the 19th century it is listed as abandoned and furnished as a farm. At the end of the 19th century, it must have been partly rebuilt, partly restored, during the first half of the 20th century, with processing of recycled material (including from the former castle of Thy-le-Château).
