The central component of the technical infrastructure supplying the gunpowder factory was the energy complex south of the port facility.
It consisted of a water tower, the boiler house, and the power plant.
The power plant was completed first in the summer of 1915. It not only generated electricity but also provided, among other things, process water (hot and cold water) and compressed air, as well as the drinking and service water required for operations and the residential colony.
The power plant consisted of a coal conveying and feeding system and the boiler house with ten Hanomag vertical-tube boilers, each with a heating surface of 500 m².
The boilers were fed by two turbo-boiler feed pumps with a capacity of 2,100 liters per minute. The engine room, located parallel to the boiler house, housed six turbo-generators with switchgear on the upper floor.
They generated an output of eight megawatts.
