              On the southern bank of Lake Schaalsee lies the town of Zarrentin, with almost 5,000 inhabitants the largest town in the region. A promenade invites you to stroll. The former Cistercian nunnery, which was renovated in detail from 2003 to 2006, is worth seeing. What is particularly impressive are the spacious refectory (former dining room) and the original cloister, which is now used for an exhibition on the history of the monastery.

              The neighboring church was first mentioned at the end of the 12th century and was declared a monastery church in 1251. In the 15th century, the Romanesque building was so dilapidated that it had to be demolished. But the new Gothic-style building still contains numerous elements of the original church. The oldest Protestant pulpit in Northern Germany is also located in the church. A pastor from the small town bought the pulpit used in 1699 in Lübeck, where it had already stood in St. Mary's Church for around 150 years.

                        Many tours around Zarrentin take place on the district roads from time to time. The locals don't drive their cars very slowly.
                        The tour from Mölln to Sterley begins with a steep climb! You should avoid this connection on the road. Lots of truck and car traffic on the road!
