Suddenly, something appears in the moor, which looks like a small town. Loud little hats, similar to houses, sting out of the water and the "mainland" in bright green. I've never seen it that way before. A worth seeing natural spectacle.

The 654 hectare "Great and White Moor" is one of the best preserved raised bogs in Lower Saxony. In 1953, the core area was declared a nature reserve. Little by little, the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) bought up land to expand the nature reserve and re-wet areas that were previously used for agriculture. Since 1999, the nature reserve has also been an FFH area (Flora-Fauna-Habitat area) and part of the European NATURA 2000 protected area system.
