The menhir is located north of the alignment of Manio, about 50 m south of the quadrilateral of Manio, of which it constitutes an indicator menhir.It is a standing stone about 6.5 m high, but which had to reach the height of 23 m before its erosion (lightning) for an original mass estimated at 350 tonnes. By its proportions, it is estimated to owe its position and its place on the site to the coordinated work of 1,800 men. It is the largest menhir on the site of the alignments of Carnac.It owes its name to its shape which recalls that of a head.It is visible to us in its form broken by lightning.The monument dates from the Neolithic period. The menhir is classified as a historic monument in 1904, along with the tumulus and the quadrilateral. It is noted by the archaeologist Zacharie Le Rouzic. (source Wikipedia)

A must in and around Carnac. The hiking trail through the forest is not overcrowded (at least in the preseason).
