    Nestled between sea and mountains, Collioure is a wonderful village on the Mediterranean coast. Its Catalan fishing port has punctuated the life of its inhabitants for centuries while having inspired artists such as Picasso. Located in a remarkable natural setting, the city has many trails that criss-cross the coastline with its many coves and fine sandy beaches.

      Collioure is ... a tourist attraction on the Côte Vermeille north of the Pyrenees. It belongs to the growing area of the sweet wine Banyuls (VDN). Collioure is an old fishing village with two port bays separated by an old royal castle, bounded by its picturesque fortified church, whose tower used to be a lighthouse.

      The Brasserie Hôtel des Templiers on the Quai Amirauté has countless original works of art by artists who settled in Collioure. Even very famous artists such as Henri Matisse, Maurice Utrillo and Pablo Picasso regularly returned to the brasserie, leaving pictures of the landlord instead of paying them - these originals are not open to the public.

                            beautiful streets and shops. Well attended on market day (Wednesday) even during the Whitsun holidays, but probably no comparison with the high season. Come early if you want to park a car!
