The God da Tamangur (“the forest over there”) is the highest continuous stone pine forest in Europe. It is at a good 2,300 meters. The moorland in the U-shaped valley is the result of Stone Age glaciers. Some of the stone pines are over 800 years old. Luckily, the forest was spared, because in the alpine region furniture is often made from the Swiss stone pine (also Swiss stone pine) with its very aromatic wood. The cones and seeds are used for food production and the production of spirits such as pine liqueur and pine schnapps.
