The Aubinger Lohe is a wooded area on a hill on the western edge of Munich in Germany. It is part of the Munich Green Belt. However, since the afforestation with spruces is no longer a Lohe in the sense of a landscape description.
The Aubinger Lohe lies completely in the area of the city Munich and is surrounded in the north by the quarter Lochhausen, in the southeast of the district Aubing and otherwise by meadows and fields. At the southern edge, it is intersected by the Munich-Fürstenfeldbruck railway line and a parallel side road. Its main part is about 1.8 km long and 1.2 km wide, its total area is about 6.2 km ². The Lohwiesengraben (later Fischbach) begins at the fields that connect to the eastern edge, the Erlbach flows past in the west: both flow into the Gröbenbach a few kilometers further north.
The hill is the only significant natural elevation, which rises in the Munich gravel plain. At its highest point it is 541 m above sea level and rises about 25 meters above its surroundings. It was created at the end of the crack ice age. While in the surrounding plain soil was largely eroded by the glacial meltwaters, the tertiary sands of the Aubinger Lohe remained where they were deposited about 15 million years ago.
In the south and southeast of the Aubinger Lohe settlement traces were found from Bronze, Celtic and Roman times, as well as two Celts hills. In the northeast lies on the hill the Aubinger Burgstall; both are legendary and are called in the surrounding area also Teufelsberg or Teufelsburg.
