The Borsteler harbor

The Alte Land is divided into three miles, the first mile stretches from the Schwinge to the Läbe, the second from the Lühe to the Este, the third from the Este to the Süderelbe. This harbor was the central traffic hub for the second mile of the Alte Land. It was first mentioned in documents in 1651, but is certainly much older.

From here, the sailors brought fruit, bricks, brandy, flour, cider and other agricultural products to Hamburg, Altona, Bremen, Berlin and other ports with their barges, dinghies and boats.

Here they landed all everyday goods as well as peat, wood, fodder and shell limestone

The Borsteler Schiffergesellschaft had been operating the port since 1750, and in 1782 it also became the owner of the port area.

The revitalization of the Borsteler harbor was initiated on January 6, 2003 with the founding of the Borsteler Hafen e. V. association.

The "Tjalk Annemarie", purchased in November 2006, was transferred to the harbor on April 26, 2007 and has been here ever since.
