A submarine on the beach. The U-995 is a German submarine of the former Kriegsmarine Type VII C / 41 that was used in World War II.

Every year around 120,000 visitors visit the submarine. As a historical and technical museum, the submarine illustrates the oppressive living conditions of soldiers during the war.

Opening times daily 10:00 to 16:00.

On March 13, 1972, U 995 was transferred to Laboe by two swimming jets and set down as a technical museum on the beach in front of the Naval Memorial. The boat was put into service on September 16, 1943 at Blohm & Voss in Hamburg. It belonged to the Type VII C, of which a total of 693 units had been completed by 1945. Until it was decommissioned on May 8, 1945 in Drontheim, Norway, U 995 was mainly used in the North Sea against convoys and escaping convoys and security forces.

U 995 is a German submarine of the former Kriegsmarine of the type VII C / 41, which was used in the Second World War. It was put into service in September 1943 and completed nine patrols. After the end of the war, it was owned by the Norwegian Navy as a test and training boat, the Kaura. It was returned to Germany in 1965 and the official handover took place on October 2, 1971. Since March 13, 1972, the submarine has been a museum ship at the foot of the Naval Memorial in Laboe.
