The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul is the village church of Wegfurt. The church tower stands as a choir tower in the east. It is a Julius Echter tower with pointed arched sound windows. The foundations of the church are medieval. A tympanum fragment to the right of the side portal indicates a previous church from the early 11th century. Prince-Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn had today's church built on the foundation walls from 1601 onwards by master Caspar from Nordheim. The church was completed in 1607 and was consecrated on October 12, 1613. The high altar came into the church around 1700, the right side altar and the pulpit in 1750. The church received the left side altar from the Rococo style from the Bildhausen monastery church. In the 1980s, a new, significantly larger sacristy was built in place of the 1908 sacristy.
The exterior of the church was renovated in 2017. An interior renovation began in 2019. Wikipedia
