The Stöhr Cross is located in Soltau, Dittmern district, approximately 150 m west of Winsener Straße, between the junctions of Am Wacholderpark and Zur Fuchsfarm.
The path is signposted: "Stöhr Cross."
Dimensions: Height 3.00 m, Width 1.60 m, Depth 0.18-0.18 m

The 'Stöhr Cross,' last erected in 1975 and previously in 1886, of the same design as the Shepherd's Cross,
is said to have a 500-year history; once rich in floral and ear-of-grain decorations;
an inscription in capital letters is carved on both sides of the cross arm.

According to legend, at the end of the 15th century, a son of the family named Stöhr, who worked as a shepherd, lived on the nearby Heidenhof. For all the events of life, he always had the same saying on his lips:
'It is God's will and God's weather' (Low German weather);

after his death, the funeral procession was on its way to the churchyard in
Soltau when a violent thunderstorm broke over the mourners, whereupon someone ironically
quoted the deceased's saying and added:
'That would have seen him - there's still life here' -

immediately afterwards, a voice answered from the coffin:
'That would have seen him and there's still life here!'

The thunderstorm suddenly stopped, and the coffin was opened to free the supposedly deceased man, but Stöhr's body had already begun to decompose.

The innkeeper of the Heidenhof had the wooden cross erected at this spot in memory of this event, which is constantly renewed by his descendants;

It is said that if it is neglected, the livestock on the farm will become sick.
