You can get there easily from Chiareggio by turning right at the bridge and taking a linear path of minimal difficulty (1h).

The alternative (about 3h) is to take the route on the left, much wilder, with irregular terrain and fords of streams with ropes, up to Lake Pirola.

Circumnavigate the lake to the opposite shore, crossing a scree (put away your sticks), a path on stones marked by white/red paint, and go up to the fork where you can choose whether to continue towards the thousand-year-old Larch, which leads down to the Alp, or towards Torrione Porro.

If you decide to go for the Torrione, it will then be necessary to retrace your steps for the descent, since the only way to "cut" down to the Alpe is via a via ferrata whose descent is prohibited.
