The local recreation area Breitenbacher Seen is located in the Fuldaaue approx. 1.0 km southwest of the core city Bebra and borders, separated by the course of the river Fulda, on the district Breitenbach.
Largest lake area in Waldhessen The Breitenbacher lakes with a water area of 17 hectares (largest lake area in Waldhessen) were created by gravel and are all located in the nature reserve Auenverbund Fulda. In the northwest is the Forbachsee nature reserve, which is looked after by the "Natural History Society Middle Fulda". Quiet areas currently in place are not used (for anglers, sailors, swimmers).
The lake is a popular destination for sea lovers with dogs. Bathing is allowed here for humans and animals, so everyone can cool off in the water on hot days. To keep the lake clean, dog bag dispensers were set up at the lake. A snack bar with seats outside and inside provides the necessary food for a day at the lake.
