    The Gimpelhaus is a great place for hikers to explore the area around the Rote Flüh and the Gimpel. But above all, the large mountain hut is the base for all climbers trying on the surrounding cliffs. With 50 beds and 170 beds in the mattress camp, there is definitely enough space for ambitious mountain adventurers.

                  Christiane was very friendly and responded to my email very quick. The reservation is booked only after sending the deposit 10€ per person. I stayed during August 2021 which you need vaccine certification or other proofs. Really pleased with their service

                                  The Gimpel Haus is located at 1659m in the Allgäu Alps near Nesselwängle in the Tannheimer Valley. The Gimpelhaus offers a unique view over Nesselwängle, the Haldensee and the surrounding mountains. The starting point for the tour is the Gimpelhaus car park at the material cable car in Nesselwängle. The path initially leads above Nesselwängle into forest and mountain pine terrain and ultimately over numerous switchbacks to the hut. The walking time is around 1.5 hours. Other routes lead via the Tannheimer Hütte or the Hahnenkamm near Reutte. The hut has 110 sleeping spaces, several rooms and its own bouldering and seminar room. The Gimpelhaus is a popular starting point for mountain and climbing tours to the Rote Flüh (2111m), the Gimpel (2176m) or the Kellenspitze (2239m). Accordingly, the Gimpelhaus is also the starting point for tours on the Kellenspitze via ferrata or the Friedberger via ferrata. The Tannheimer Hütte is located in the immediate vicinity of the Gimpelhaus and only a few minutes away. Routes lasting several hours to the Füssener Hütte or the Otto-Mayr-Hütte lead over the Nesselwängler Scharte past the Musauer Alm (approx. 3 hours) or over the Rote Flüh and Gelbe Scharte and/or alternatively over the Friedberger climbing route (+5 hours). The Gimpelhaus is open from the beginning of May to mid/end of October.

                                        If you want to stay overnight, you should make a reservation. Despite the more than 200 beds, the bullfinch is often hopelessly overcrowded. A very nice base for many climbing routes or the crossing of the Rote Flüh (best with the Friedberger via ferrata). The ambience of a smaller DAV hut you look for but in vain, but at the Gimpelhaus then too much business ...
