It was a former gate of the former city fortification, the square tower dates from the 13th century. The round tower is 27 m high and dates from the 15th century. Both towers are connected by a covered walkway over the passage. Beautiful preserved plant.

A beautiful city gate. There are wall niches in which birds of prey (falcons?) Have their nest. If you come from the city center and stand in front of the passage, it is on the left side. You can easily find it by looking at the white waste on the masonry.

The rectangular tower was built around 1300. The round tower and the central building were built around 1450 and flank a pointed-arched passage building. The round tower has a cantilevered battlement. The richer design of the round tower, the central building and the top of the rectangular building corresponds to the construction period around 1450 and was probably mediated by Stephan Buxtehude, to whom the Uenglinger Tor in Stendal and the Elbtor in Werben go back. The round tower is decorated with glazed bricks in a spiral or zigzag arrangement, with a molded stone frieze depicting the head of Medusa and varied panel decoration.

The plaster panels above the gateway bear coats of arms painted on them in 1897:

Imperial eagle with the applied Hohenzollern shield,
Tangermünde eagle,
Eagle of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation,
Brandenburg eagle.
