The Elbe ferry Tanja connects District Road 19 with District Road 61 at kilometer 536.5 of the Elbe, connecting the towns of Neu Darchau and Darchau.
The ferry operates year-round and travels continuously between the two piers.
A crossing takes approximately five minutes. On weekdays, Tanja operates between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In 2007, according to the company's own information, the ferry crossed the Elbe 60,000 times. An average of 495 cars and a total of 436,000 passengers were transported daily.

A nice way to cross the Elbe and get to Hitzacker or Bleckede on the north side. On the north side you can drive on the dike and admire the entire Elbe panorama.
If you drive along the Storchenstrasse along the Elbe to Hitzacker, you have to be prepared for a lot. There are strenuous climbs (approx. 12%) and rapid descents, every Elbe mountain is approached. The route is approximately 17 km long. This area is also popular with motorcyclists; there are also some serpentine roads in this area.

The Elbe-Floßfahrten company in the municipality of Amt Neuhaus has been offering rafting on the Elbe since 2006 – including adventure tours with certified nature and tourist guides.
The rafts are made entirely of thermo-treated wood by Warnkes Holzmanufaktur in Neuhaus. Thermo-treated wood is created through a special heat treatment of the wood, which gives local wood the durability and quality of tropical wood.

As a funded project, the operation of another attractive nature experience offering has been initiated. A large raft with an innovative hybrid and solar motor was developed for this purpose and has been sailing on the Elbe since 2009.

There are currently two small rafts, two solar rafts, and one large raft in operation. The solar rafts and the large raft can accommodate 14 people (2 hours cost €150 per raft).

The small rafts can accommodate 8 people (2 hours cost €90 per raft).
