At the northern tip of the Achensee, nestled between Karwendel and Rofan mountains lies Achenkirch.

The sprawling village on the "Tiroler Fjord", as the Achensee is often called, has an almost sophisticated appearance and at the same time retains its rural-rural character. Achenkirch is a popular winter destination for skiers. In addition, Achenkirch has established itself as just one of three places in Tyrol and a very trendy trend sport: snowkiting. Mountain bikers get their money's worth here in summer.

Very nice panorama and the Achensee. Achenkirch actually has enough to offer for the night. My insider tip, however, is to find a small guesthouse on the banks of the lake outside. Definitely take a tour of the lake. Tours to the surrounding alpine pastures or peaks are recommended. It's also great with the bike, since most of the paths are nice and wide.

Achental became a political community in 1811 as a result of the Bavarian administrative reform. Tyrol belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria from 1806 to 1814. When the political district administrative authorities were formed in 1867, the municipality of Achental was assigned to the Schwaz district. In 1971 the community was renamed "Achenkirch".
