The clay pigeon shooting range is located in the Plaue Palace Park.
When Hans Valentin Ferdinand von Königsmarck acquired the Plau Palace from the Lauer-Münchhofen family in 1839, a new era began for the Plau Palace Park.
It is not known whether the terrace was planned as a viewing platform or as a shooting range. It was initially built before 1880 without the two reinforced end bases and without the two animal sculptures. These were only added later, when Hans Count von Königsmarck recalled his hunting experiences in what was then English Kashmir in the form of the two animals he killed on a hunt in the Himalayas in 1909, a red bear and a markhor. The count was a passionate hunter and probably had the terrace converted into a clay pigeon shooting range from 1911 onwards. Two launchers were installed in front of the hatches on the building; shooting took place from above in the direction of Lake Plau. The bases were extended and the concrete animal figures were placed on top.
