"Do it like the sundial, just count the cheerful hours": Röttingen is also known as the "city of sundials".

The town deserves this nickname for its 2-kilometer circular route with 25 different types of sundials. On the way inside and around the city wall, you can take a closer look at these timepieces at any time or study how they work. It is advisable to walk the path on sunny days and read the times. But even on cloudy days it is interesting to explore the different designs of the unique sundials.

A sundial usually consists of a rod or a straight edge, the shadow of which shows the time on a dial divided into hours. However, the Röttinger Sonnenuhrenweg offers many other forms of these special timepieces: a spherical sundial, a sundial with light refraction through a piece of glass and much more. The builder of these fascinating sundials is the master locksmith Kurt Fuchslocher from Bad Mergentheim, who died in 2010.
