In autumn and winter, the west bank offers a wide view of the villas on the opposite bank. Among other things, the Villa Konschewski is located there. It was built between 1922 and 1924 by the architect Oskar Kaufmann, who also designed the buildings of the Hebbeltheater and the Berliner Volksbühne.

The Hundekehlesee is located in the west of the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf on the edge of the Grunewald villa colony and the forest of the same name.

The lake, with an area of around 72,000 m², has an elongated shape in a north-south orientation and is part of the glacial channel of the Grunewald chain of lakes. The lake is fed by the Grunewaldsee to the south via the Hundekehlegraben in the neighboring Hundekehlefenn nature reserve. To the northeast, around 500 meters away, the Dianasee joins the chain of lakes, but the Grunewaldrinne is interrupted by three built-up streets and is only visible again in a small, inconspicuous and nameless park that lies in front of the Dianasee south of Fontanestrasse.

On the west side of the lake there is a public forest hiking trail that continues Berlin's most popular dog walking area, which begins at the Grunewaldsee, to the AVUS (A 115). The other sides of the lake are no longer accessible to the public.

Another impressive building on the lake is the multi-part and restored Villa Konschewski from 1923 at Gottfried-von-Cramm-Weg 33-37, whose extensive and protected gardens stretch down in terraces to the eastern shore of the lake. The builder was Moritz Konschewski, director of a Pomeranian paper mill. The monument is sometimes also referred to as the "Oskar-Kaufmann-Villa" after its architect, who built the Hebbel Theater in 1908 and the Volksbühne in 1914, and built the Renaissance Theater in 1927
