The Sassolungo group is located between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano, right between Val Gardena and Val di Fassa. The Sassolungo is a small group, not very extensive, which offers a large number of towers and buttresses, among which, one of the highest is that of the Sassopiatto, whose massif, together with that of the Sassolungo and the Sasso Levante sector , constitutes one of the three subdivisions that make up the group.
