It was common for Soviet forces to camp at some of their aerodromes.
In Nobitz, the KWEM were stored in two building types GRANIT (based on a modified arch support type GDF 2/16, Soviet AU-16), these were built only twice in the territory of the GDR.
This type of bunker building is divided into two levels by a raised false ceiling. In the basement are the 2 storage areas, the systems for overpressure maintenance, water supply, maintenance rooms and air conditioning and electrical control. The upper level houses the air conditioning, sanitary facilities, staff rooms, emergency room, ventilation and electrical systems, filter sections and a specially ventilated room for storing the detonators for the weapon systems.
Total length of construction: 69m, total building width: 14,0m,
In the case of the nuclear free-fall bombs to be used, the warhead and detonator were always stored separately.
