Valstagna
The first town in the valley is Pergine Valsugana. The lively town at the gateway to the famous valley is characterized by the beautiful Castel Pergine castle complex above the town. The castle is largely original in its shape and structure, apart from an alleged Roman fortress that is said to have once stood here.

Main town of the great canyon of the Canale di Brenta, it is located at the mouth of the Val Frenzela (or Franzela), an important valley that descends from the Asiago plateau, where the geological fracture of the Canale di Brenta makes a right angle in the direction of Bassano between oppressive formations rocks filed by glaciations. And in fact it is assumed that the name Valstagna derives from the Germanic terms 'wall' (wall) and 'stein' (stone), referring to the conformation of the imposing rocky crags on the narrow valley floor, where a row of houses stretches out to exploit the useful space.
