    Madonna dell’Angelo was originally dedicated to the Archangel Michael and is a pilgrimage church from 1751, which was built on the remains of what is probably the oldest religious building in Caorle - a three-aisled wooden church from the 6th or 7th century. The location between the cliffs and Levante beach on a promontory in the Adriatic is particularly beautiful.

          Tradition says that some fishermen found a wooden statue of the Virgin and Child in the sea that floated despite being on a marble pedestal.                   The Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Angelo

                  The Church of the Madonna dell'Angelo (originally dedicated to the Archangel Michael, hence the name) is a sanctuary built in its current structure in 1751 on the 6th or 7th century remains of what was probably the oldest religious building in Caorle : a small wooden church with three naves dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo.

                  Today the church is located in a suggestive position to say the least (where the cliff ends and the Levante beach begins), on a promontory that is wedged into the Adriatic Sea and has over time become a pilgrimage destination, not only for us Caorle people, devotees to the Virgin Mary, but also for many faithful who come from all over the world.

                  Tradition says that some fishermen found a wooden statue of the Madonna and Child in the sea that was floating despite it resting on a marble pedestal; only some children managed to take it to the Duomo from which, however, it disappeared the following day, only to be inexplicably found later in the small church on the sea which then took the name of the Church of the Madonna dell'Angelo.
