On the edge of the Dollartwatt lies the observation tower Kiekkaaste. On high stilts he is safe from the storm tides. From here you can watch the life in the watt up close. In the waders in front of the tower waders and ducks look for food in the silt at low tide. At high tide, the marsh harrier hunts over the reeds and sometimes you can see a seal in front of the tower. The tower is accessible at all times. Before your visit, however, be aware of the flood times. Especially at Springtiden, the water can flood the unpaved footpath! Be sure to wear rubber boots and binoculars with the Dollart. The Kiekkaaste is signposted from the exit Bunde-West (A280).
