The Seeve rises between Handeloh and Undeloh and flows, after 40 km has meandered through the Geest, in the Elbe.

Here at Jesteburg you can follow the course of the Seeve a bit and get from small bridges good insight into the habitat Heidebach. With a little luck, they may even hear the call of the kingfisher, or catch a glimpse of its exotic blue plumage as it flies over the water.

Clear, cool and oxygen-rich water is vital for fish species such as grayling, brook and sea trout.

And cool is the Seeve: With an average temperature of 6 - 8 ° C, it is considered North Germany's coldest river.
