    Meanwhile, the TERRA.vita region is a UNESCO Geopark, and many hiking trails, also in Hüggel and Silbersee, are newly signposted. Highly recommended!
    The Silver Lake tunnel is of course completed outside the guides, and also the Silver Lake Quarry may not be entered on your own, because there are several very rare and disturbance-sensitive animals and plants have found a refuge.
    Cool is that the circular walk around the quarry is now led over the half-ruined building of the former quarry. In addition to the buildings are also remains of the old cable car foundations.

        The Silbersee tunnel on the hill between Hagen and Hasbergen is one of the highlights in the natural and geopark Terra Vita, which is currently seeking a UNESCO award. There are many stories about Silver Lake. The tunnel is accessible today only because the silver lake has dried up a few years ago. In the past the area was a popular adventure playground, but at the time only divers came into the caves. Today, the Terra-Vita Nature Park offers guided tours through an underground tunnel, where a lake was not even ten years ago. After heavy rains the tunnel is still inaccessible due to flooding.

          Super highlight very interesting! There is a circular route around the silver lake tunnel, some benches invite you to take a break with a great view. You can book guided tours through the lower part, because of the high risk of falling it is not possible to enter on your own. Great old ruins that you don't see at first glance. Have fun exploring.

              The gorge in which the tunnel is located was left behind by the opencast mine in the hill. The Silbersee was created through the opencast mine. When the water level sank, an approximately 250m long tunnel was exposed.
