The Regionalmanagement Südliches Osnabrücker Land celebrates its tenth anniversary! On the occasion of this anniversary, we look back in a series of articles on exemplary projects that regional management has been able to support since 2009. Today: the clearing of the sculptors.
The Landesgartenschau 2018 in Bad Iburg was undoubtedly one of the largest events in the SOL in the past ten years. One of the many sights was the clearing of the sculptors, which the KuK SOL e.V.art and culture association launched together with the towns and municipalities of the ILE region of Southern Osnabrück and the regional management. Seven artists, about half of them from the region, created six sculptures during the State Garden Show, one for each SOL municipality. The special thing about it: They created their works of art in a clearing in the forest spa park. Visitors were able to be "live" during the two-week creation process and had a conversation with the artists.
But the project lives on even after the end of the Landesgartenschau: every sculpture has now found a permanent home in the commune that it originally sponsored. Axel Buschmann's maple leaf made of wood remains in the Kurpark as a Bad Iburger contribution. Jörg Spätigs metal spice mortar adorns the Dissener Homann-Park, Angela Large stone stele in memory of the dying of insects stands in the Hilteraner Rathauspark, Rainer Ern's wooden sculpture "vis-à-vis" in the Bad Rothenfelder Kurpark. Martina Kreitmeier's unicyclist can be found at the entrance in the Schwege district of Glandorf, the wooden sculpture “1000 Years Bad Laer” by Margit Rusert and Franz Greife is in the spa gardens of the municipality. All works of art are open to the public - and a real attraction in their respective location.
