    Not far behind Volkach are the remains of a unique ensemble of Baroque master builder Balthasar Neumann - the former farm estate Öttershausen. Since 1641, other sources call the year 1651, it is owned by the Counts of Schönborn. In the 20th century, the decline of the estate and thus the once surrounding settlement gradually followed.

    Since the 70s, the buildings are empty and are left to decay.

    Impressive is the manor but still, even if only the bulk and distillery construction of the plant has received.

      The manor was given away to Heidenfeld Monastery as early as 1069, at that time as "Otericheshusin", by the future abbess of Banz, Alberada. Various gentlemen followed who owned the estate during the Middle Ages. Valentin Echter von Mespelbrunn acquired the place in 1588 and died here in 1624. Again, different gentlemen came into possession of the goods.

      It was not until 1651 that Philipp Erwein von Schönborn bought the village of Gaibach with the castle and the Öttershausen estate. From then on it was part of the extensive property of the count family. In the 18th century, renovation work began on the buildings of the manor. Of

      Between 1745 and 1747, under the construction management of Balthasar Neumann, the Schönborn’sche Gut Öttershausen, which was one of the most impressive in the region, was built. In addition, a small settlement had established itself around the courtyard.

      In the 20th century, the decline of the farm and with it the surrounding settlement followed. After the manor buildings had been vacant for 35 years, most of the manor buildings were demolished in 2011.

      Due to the destruction of the 21st century, only a few architectural monuments have survived in the village. The manor of the Counts of Schönborn is still dominant, even if only the bulk and distillery construction of the plant has survived. Both elements originally come from the second half of the 16th century. In the 18th century, the master builder Balthasar Neumann made extensive changes. The manor is still owned by the County of Schönborn to this day and has been left to weather and decay for decades. The buildings are empty and left to decay.
