The pier is 200 meters long - as many meters as Heiligendamm was in 1993. However, there is a catch: the pier ends on a sandbank and an attempt by a ship to moor there resulted in the destruction of the pier. It was in the water until shortly before the G8 summit and is now only available as a scaffold and blocked. At the eastern pier, however, rubber dinghies can moor, as was previously done when the MS EUROPA docked in front of Heiligendamm and the passengers were disembarked. Otherwise nobody is allowed to moor at the pier. But there are efforts to lengthen it and make it navigable.
