It towers 280 m above the Main Valley - whoever climbs up will be rewarded with an impressive panoramic view of the Upper Main Valley. Today the Staffelberg with the Adelgundiskapelle and the Staffelbergklause is a popular destination for locals and tourists. In the past, more than 2,000 years ago, the Staffelberg was a settlement area and home of the Celts: just recently, a mighty gate in the west of the former Celtic town was archaeologically examined.

The downhill path is only recommended for hikers with really good shoes, as it is 50 meters really steep.

Can be very slippery, especially in wet weather, and it is really quite steep - so caution would be advised at least downhill. But there is an alternative course of the route with a staircase.

The Obermain•Jura tourism region is centrally located between Bamberg, Coburg and Kulmbach.
The tourist highlights include the Staffelberg, the "mountain of the Franks", as well as the baroque Banz monastery and the pilgrimage basilica of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.
Inspired by the two baroque buildings and the scenic beauty, the poet Victor von Scheffel once coined the term "God's Garden" in his song of the Franks, as the region on the Upper Main is often called today.

The Main-Donau-Weg consists of four independent hiking routes that connect the two rivers Main and Danube.
There is also a cross connection between the Tauber-Wörnitz line and the Rangau line.
The total length of all routes together is about 1158 kilometers.
Exact route information on the routes is fully recorded in OpenStreetMap on a separate page.
The Fichtelgebirge Association, the Swabian Alb Association, the Franconian Alb Association (FAV), the Franconian Switzerland Association, the Franconian Forest Association and the Upper Palatinate Forest Association (OWV) share the management of the paths.
A continuous description of the paths including all lines can be found e.g. B. with Helmut Dumler.
